Respawn's CEO is just like us, "would love" to see Titanfall 3

Image
In a strong he's just like me for real moment, Respawn CEO Vince Zampella said he "would love" to see Titanfall 3 happen. I'm not a big shooter kind of player. They're just not for me, unless they're doing something interesting, like Titanfall 2, which yeah, everyone's right: that's a damn good video game right there. Personally I'm not looking for anymore Titanfall multiplayer either because I never played the online portion, but I would love a third game just for the story. Only problem is, Titanfall 2 didn't do so well, and Apex Legends is doing incredibly well - so why the hell is Respawn's CEO getting my hopes up? Zampella recently spoke to Barron's (via PCGamer ), where he touched on a potential Titanfall 3, and didn't say no outright. "I hate to say yes, then people latch onto that, and then skewer you when it doesn't come," said Zampella, "But I would love to see it happen is the real answer." O...

Let Me Solo Her managed to beat an Elden Ring full of Malenias

Image
The one and only Let Me Solo Her has just finished an impressive Elden Ring run where every enemy NPC in the game was turned into Malenia. Let Me Solo Her quickly made Elden Ring history last year following the release of Elden Ring thanks to them aiding many players by soloing Malenia , all while completely naked apart from wearing a pot for a hat. Last month, Let Me Solo Her set themself the task of trying to beat the game without levelling up vigor at all, acquiring the famed Jar Helm, and oh yeah, every enemy in the game is Malenia . No biggie. Well, after 10 hours of playtime (upsettingly short, even if it isn't a speedrun), that challenge has now been beaten, as Let Me Solo Her showed off themself on his own Twitter account. "Took about 10 hours and probably more deaths than I'd like to admit but I finally finished the Everything is Malenia Run!" Let Me Solo Her wrote. "It was as fun as it was painful... No levelling vigor was a mistake." To be cle...

CD Projekt Red will tell us a bit more about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty this June

Image
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty still doesn't have a release date yet, but CD Projekt Red says we'll start to hear more about it this June. CD Projekt announced that Cyberpunk 2077 would be getting a big expansion called Phantom Liberty last year, later revealing that the one and only Idris Elba is the next celebrity actor making an appearance in the world of Cyberpunk. We haven't really seen or heard much about it since then, but earlier this week the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter brought the DLC up again, promising that we'll actually start to get some more information on it this June. "ICYMI, we'll start talking about Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty this June," reads the tweet. "At [Summer Games Fest]: Play Days, we'll have hands-on sessions for press and content creators. We're also planning plenty of hands-on opportunities for our community at a later date, so stay tuned!" Read more from VG247 Latest Articles Feed https:/...

Sony promises more PC ports, so Bloodborne's only a matter of time, right?

Image
Sony has confirmed that it plans to bring more of its games to PC in the future, notably because its games are doing quite well on computers. Since 2020 Sony has been steadily adding some of its biggest titles to PC, finally catching up with the times in making its games more accessible to a broader range of players. That all started with Horizon Zero Dawn, with games like God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, and The Last of Us Part 1 coming to PC further down the line. As part of Sony's recent FY2022 financial report , Sony also confirmed that it plans to continue releasing its games on PC, which isn't surprising in the slightest because it's making plenty of money through the process (thanks, PCGamer ). In the report, Sony notes that it plans to release Marvel's Spider-Man 2 this year, a title currently without a release date, and it also wrote of its plans to continue making new IP, as well as "rolling out catalogue titles for PC." The line does make it...

Honkai: Star Rail is already steam rolling it with more than 20 million downloads

Image
Honkai Star Rail is chugging along at a strong pace, as the game has already been downloaded more than 20 million times. Genshin Impact developer miHoYo's latest title is blasting off at the speed of light, as it managed to hit more than 20 million downloads just a single day after launching. This was spotted by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, sharing the news in a tweet , originally confirmed in a Weibo post from Honkai Star Rail's official account. It's certainly an impressive figure, but not exactly a surprising one. Genshin Impact has become massively popular since its launch in 2020, and Honkai: Star Rail obviously shares a lot of sensibilities when it comes to its character design, even if the latter is obviously more sci-fi as opposed to Genshin's fantasy setting. The Weibo post also announced that as thanks to all of the players, miHoYo is distributing 10 Star Rail Special Passes on April 30 (i.e. today if you're reading this article today). A celebratio...

Lego's next Super Mario set makes bricks out of Donkey Kong and family

Image
Lego and Nintendo have announced their latest Mario sets, this time focusing on the one and only Donkey Kong (and his family too). The partnership between Lego and Nintendo has been slowly expanding over the years, with things like the NES set, and the quite playful Mario sets. Now the pair have confirmed that they're finally here, performing for you: that's right, it's the Kongs. There's four new sets in total, made up of Donkey Kong's Tree House Expansion Set (£57.99 / $59.99), Diddy Kong's Mine Cart Ride Expansion Set (£94.99 / $109.99), Dixie Kong's Jungle Jam Expansion Set (£20.99 / $26.99) and the Rambi the Rhino Expansion set (£8.99 / $10.99). All of these are expected to release August 1, each of which come with different Kong members. If you're feeling a bit grumpy, you'll be happy to hear Kranky Kong comes with the main set Donkey Kong's Tree House, whereas if you're in the mood for some good tunes, Funky Kong is paired up with...

That delayed Tomb Raider collection has been rated by the ESRB

Image
ESRB, the US' ratings board, has essentially confirmed that a couple of Tomb Raider games should be making their way to the Switch soon. Back in 2021, Crystal Dynamics and Feral Interactive announced they would be bringing Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris to the Switch, originally expected to release in 2022, but quietly delayed at the end of the year. Now, the ESRB has for all intents and purposes confirmed that those pair of games aren't too far off, considering they've received a rating . It is worth noting that neither of the games are directly named in the rating, it's just called The Lara Croft Collection, but it's obviously going to be the pair of them. "This is a collection of two action-adventure games in which players help Lara Croft and her allies search for artefacts to stop ancient gods from destroying the world," reads the rating summary. "From a 3/4-overhead perspective, players traver...

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PC woes to be vanquished - Respawn aims to restore order to the Force

Image
Respawn Entertainment has addressed performance issues players have been experiencing with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PC. According to a statement from the development team on Twitter, it was acknowledged a percentage of PC players have been affected, particularly those with high-end machines or specific configurations. Players using "cutting-edge, multi-threaded chipsets designed for Windows 11" are encountering problems on Windows 10, and those with high-end GPUs coupled with "lower-performing CPUs" are also experiencing unexpected frame loss." What's the best game with the WORST difficulty spike? The Best Games Ever Show Episode 49

Image
Welcome to the Best Games Ever Show episode 49: The Best Game with the Worst Difficulty Spike. High difficulty is one thing. As long as it's consistent, it can be an asset. Souls games are essentially all about providing a big mountain to climb. But sometimes games have difficulty spikes that, frankly, take the proverbial Michael. Games which aren't supposed to be mountains to climb, but gentle slopes to meander along. They lull you into a false sense of security, providing a moderate challenge but nothing you can't handle as long as you're keeping your wits about you. And then you turn a corner, and some horrid boss with a billion hit points who can dodge all your attacks comes swanning in to ruin your weekend. We all have a traumatic memory of one of those. Whether it's the annoying bullet sponge guy in Alpha Protocol, General Raam at the end of Gears of War, or just any of the atrocious boss fights in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, high-powered bosses are usually ...

CliffyB wants to bring back that game we all definitely remember, LawBreakers

Image
Cliff Bleszinski, director of the hero shooter LawBreakers that shut down in 2018, seemingly wants to bring the game back. I'm not going to judge you if you don't remember LawBreakers, as not many people even played the game . But now, five years after the game shutdown, Bleszinksi (popularly known as CliffyB) is trying to bring it back. Publisher Nexon - who's been in the news recently for lawsuit-related reasons - owns the rights to LawBreakers, having originally published the game and not having sold off the IP at any point. As a result, Bleszinski just flat out tweeted at Nexon's CEO asking about a revival. "Well, turns out Nexon does own the rights to LawBreakers," wrote Bleszinski before tagging Nexon CEO Owen Mahoney and saying, "how about sliding into my DMs so we can talk about a resurrection?" Mahoney hasn't responded to Mahoney's tweet at the time of writing, but unless that guy that runs Twitter decides to make everyone's...

Dead Island 2 has a very unusual definition of pre-order bonuses

Image
By now, you've probably made up your mind about Dead Island 2 . Though the game only released a few days ago, reviews have been out for a little longer. Our very own Kelsey Raynor called it, "A HELL-A zany take on the co-op zombie shooter" , awarding it four stars. But whether or not you already made the trip to sunny HELL-A, this pre-order bonus situation is confusing for everyone. See, Dead Island 2 has three editions apart from the standard one. They are the Gold, Deluxe, and HELL-A Edition. Pre-ordering any of the three editions nets you two exclusive character packs for Amy, and Jacob. Guerrilla subtly confirms a new Horizon game as its studio director moves on

Image
To the surprise of no one, Guerrilla Games has basically confirmed that another Horizon game starring Aloy is on the way. Earlier today Guerrilla Games shared a blog post announcing that studio director and executive producer Angie Smets is leaving the developer after 20 years to join PlayStation Studios as head of development strategy. The post obviously wished Smets well in her new role, but it also pretty nonchalantly confirmed that Aloy will be returning for another Horizon game at some point. "We have full confidence in our new leadership as they steer Guerrilla towards a bright future, expanding the world of Horizon with Aloy's next adventure and our exciting online project," reads the post. Smets also offered a little goodbye message in the post, writing, "These past two decades at Guerrilla have been an absolute dream. I feel privileged to have worked alongside some of the smartest and coolest people in the industry. I'm so grateful for everything I...

Despite another year of support, The Division 2 won't be getting a native PS5 or Xbox Series X/S version

Image
Ubisoft recently hosted an event dedicated to catching everyone up on news from The Division sphere. We got a fresh look at The Division Heartland , the free-to-play PvEvP survival hybrid, as well as some updates about the mobile spin-off The Division Resurgence. But the big news was arguably confirmation that The Division 2 will be getting one more year of support. Beginning in June, the game will kick off its Year 5, which is made up of four seasons. Season One: Broken Wings marks the start of a new arc for the game's story, and introduces a free mode called Descent, which brings a rogue-lite take on The Division's gameplay, where up to four players start fresh with no gear or perks, and would need to unlock them as they go. Overwatch 2's Lifeweaver is already getting some changes

Image
Lifeweaver only just joined Overwatch 2 a couple of weeks ago, but he's already getting some big changes. The latest support hero and healer, Lifeweaver joined the first person shooter earlier this month , but he's already being treated to a onceover as fans found him to be a bit lacking. Compared to other supports, there wasn't much going for him as a character that meant he was worth playing over any other. Lead hero designer Alec Dawson shared some of the changes coming to the character next week on a Twitter thread to highlight some of the potential improvements. For Healing Blossom, the ammo count has been raised from 12 up to 20, and "slow during charge now kicks in 1 second after fully charging." The spread of Thorn Volley has been tightened as well. Lifeweaver's ultimate ability Tree of Life, an ability that spawns a tree that heals anyway within its radius, has had its health raised from 1000 to 1200, and its per pulse healing has been raised from...

PlayStation has acquired Firewalk Studios, still no word on what it's making

Image
PlayStation has acquired Firewalk Studios , a development team working on an unrevealed multiplayer title. Back in 2021, PlayStation announced it was publishing a game from Firewalk Studios , at the time a subsidiary of ProbablyMonsters. Now, PlayStation has flat out acquired the developer, as it announced in a PlayStation Blog post earlier this week. If you haven't heard of Firewalk Studios, that's ok, because since its inception in 2018 it hasn't actually released a game yet. Though the main focus appears to be multiplayer, as that is what the team currently has in development. Firewalk Studios joining PlayStation makes this the 20th first-party studio the company now owns. "Since announcing our publishing partnership with ProbablyMonsters and Firewalk in 2021, we continue to be impressed by the team’s ambitions to build a modern multiplayer game that connects players in new and innovative ways," wrote head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst in the blog po...

Immortals of Aveum gets a first look with six minutes of magical FPS gameplay

Image
Ascendant Studios has shown off some gameplay for its upcoming magic FPS Immortals of Aveum . Immortals of Aveum, the latest title that has been adorned with the EA Originals label, was formally announced last week with a par for the course cinematic trailer, giving us an idea of what gameplay might be like without actually showing us. Well thankfully, developer Ascendant Studios has given us a taste of what to expect with six full minutes of gameplay. Currently it's looking like a mix of other shooters like Doom and Destiny, with a dash of that hand wavey magic Doctor Strange does in the Marvel films, complete with made up runes and particle effects. The trailer offers a look at three different kinds of magic you'll be able to use, Force, which is the blue one, Life, the green one, and Chaos, the red one, which you'll be able to mix and match with Sigils, rings, and totems. "Unlock and upgrade a wide variety of Spells and Talents across three colors of magic,...

EA Sports PGA Tour has strong sim credentials, but is also undeniably a first-gen sports title

Image
It’s in the game. The slogan of EA Sports is one of gaming’s most enduring marketing ticks - though for EA Sports PGA Tour, perhaps something else would be more appropriate. “Game On”, perhaps? I say that not because of anything that is - excuse the phrase - in the game, but because of the context around the release of EA’s new golf game. The reasoning and decision-making is complicated, but the short version is much simpler: EA stopped making golf games. 2K started making them instead. And now EA is back on the block to take the fight to the upstart, PGA Tour 2K. But this isn’t as simple as a return of the king moment; EA is basically starting from scratch. That fact is the main caveat in EA Sports PGA Tour, in fact. You can tell this is a first run out - a new franchise, a hard reboot, rather than picking up anywhere near where 2015’s Rory McIlroy PGA Tours left off. That puts some tight constraints on what this title can accomplish - but it’s a huge positive in other areas, too. ...

What's the best game set on a horrible island? The Best Games Ever Show Episode 48

Image
As most of us are residents of a horrible island, we at VG247 have raised a suspicious eyebrow at Dead Island 2 for being not set on an island or, frankly, horrible enough for our liking. Which has led us to ask the question: what is the best game set on a horrible island? There are so many to choose from, as islands are a popular setting in video games: their size is naturally limited, so it's much easier to proportion them realistically without surrounding the map with invisible walls. Everything from Morrowind to GTA V could potentially fit the bill. But none of our panellists picked those. In order to find out what they actually picked, you'll have to listen to it, for which there are several handy methods below. Or you can watch it, because it's a proper video show now where you can actually see our faces: You could also simply read the spoilerrific summary below, if you're the sort of person who doesn't like surprises. The Sims 4 has reportedly reached 70 million players, announces new kits

Image
In an announcement from EA (via BusinessWire ), The Sims 4 has set a franchise record, having reportedly reached over 70 million players. That’s quite the feat, and also means that The Sims 4 has more players than there are people in the United Kingdom. The Sims 4 launched just under a decade ago, in 2014. Recently, EA also revealed its upcoming Project Rene , which is the working title for what will, undoubtedly, be The Sims 5. That news is no dampener for The Sims 4, though, which has a committed community of Simmers who create impressive builds, tell engaging stories, and ultimately, have fun. The announcement of The Sims 4 having reached 70 million players makes it the most-played game in The Sims 23-year franchise history. In addition to the news, the most recent expansion pack - Growing Together - has seen the most successful launch week of The Sims 4’s various expansions and kits. Here’s everything announced at Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase

Image
Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase aired last night, showing off more than a dozen interesting, indie titles that’ll be coming to the Nintendo Switch during 2023. The clue is in the name when it comes to what was on display; indie titles. So, if you’re looking for a morsel of hope that Hollow Knight: Silksong is happening this summer, I have to sadly break it to you that no, it did not show up at the showcase. That said, plenty of other games shown off might tide you over until we eventually, one day, receive an update on Silksong. You can watch the Indie World Showcase over on Nintendo’s website , but for those who prefer to read a round-up, I’ve got you covered. Four classic SEGA Genesis titles are now available on Nintendo Switch Online

Image
Nintendo is regularly updating the line-up of games available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Just a couple of months ago, it expanded massively by introducing GameBoy Advance titles to the service. Now, though, it has added four classic SEGA Genesis titles for players to revisit, or try for the first time. This time around, the four SEGA Genesis titles that players get to dive into are Pulseman, Flicky, Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition, and Kid Chameleon. Frankly, the only one I’m even remotely familiar with is Street Fighter II, and that’s because, well, it’s Street Fighter. Read more from VG247 Latest Articles Feed https://ift.tt/Hq6aR7d via IFTTT

Dead Island 2 review: a HELL-A zany take on the co-op zombie shooter

Image
Dead Island 2 starts in the sun-soaked and blood-drenched City of Angels, but there are no angels here. Brain-dead, ravenous zombies govern this city, now casually called HELL-A. You awaken aboard an aeroplane that has succumbed to the plague of zombies, and with merely the clothes on your back and an immunity to the undead’s slavering bites, you need to escape from HELL-A. Even if you have to become every other survivor’s middle man in the process. As you trek across HELL-A, you explore mansions galore, approach the surprisingly well-maintained sewers with the utmost intrepidity, and even get to make your mark on Hollywood Boulevard. In spite of its flaws and quirks (and there are so, so many), Dead Island 2 does exactly what it needed to do just under a decade ago when it was first announced , and what it needed to do now, at launch: it provides mindless, zombie-slaying fun in an environment seething with life, vibrancy, and eccentric charm. Incredibly life-like warts and all. De...

Resident Evil 2 and 3 missing ray tracing options will be addressed in future update

Image
In a recent update to the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, the ray tracing options for the Steam versions of the games were quietly removed . This led to plenty of players being confused as to why the options were suddenly gone. Capcom did not comment, at the time, on why ray tracing had been removed from both games. This led players to obviously theorise that some sort of bug had occurred, or mistake had been made, considering the console versions of the game retained the option. Today, Capcom tweeted via the Resident Evil Twitter account to let players know it is aware of the issue, and that it’ll be addressed in a future update. The developer did not share why the issue had occurred, but has at least confirmed that ray tracing options - as well as a missing 3D Audio Option - will be addressed soon. Pokemon GO developer Niantic and Capcom team up for Monster Hunter Now

Image
Capcom is teaming up with Pokemon GO developer, Niantic, for its next game in the Monster Hunter series. The new game, named Monster Hunter Now , will become available for iOS and Android devices in September 2023 . If you’re a keen Monster Hunter hoping to join in on the action early, however, a closed beta test of the game takes place on April 25. Monster Hunter Now hopes to have players flocking to the streets to slay various creatures, much like Pokemon GO. That said, we won’t be catching the creatures we cross paths with; we’ll be killing them with the help of other players. It appears that both Capcom and Niantic want to bring a more social aspect to the series, and hopefully the mobile game will do just that. Honkai: Star Rail hits 10 million pre-register milestone - just like Genshin Impact did

Image
Honkai: Star Rail has soared past the 10 million pre-registered players milestone. This is just over a week ahead of release, and is also the same milestone Genshin Impact reached before its explosive launch back in 2020. What's especially interesting is not just the speed at which the next gacha RPG from Hoyoverse has managed to pull this off, it's that the game has managed to do it without PlayStation pre-registration available. With that in mind, it looks as though Honkai Star Rail will have an astronomical day one playerbase, all of whom will surely appreciate a nice number of pre-reg rewards . The game is set to provide all the familar perks that fans of Genshin Impact will like: an anime art style, numerous characters to use in combat and chat to through a engrossing single player story, and more. There's also the gacha system of course, the most common method of obtaining new characters that demands a lot of free-to-play time or real world cash, so keep that in ...

Haunted Chocolatier development paused while dev works on Stardew Valley 1.6 update

Image
Eric Barone, the sole creator of the hit farming-simulator and RPG, Stardew Valley , has temporarily paused development on his upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier . The new game is another simulation-RPG, anticipated to be much darker than its spiritual predecessor. Barone hasn’t detailed exactly how long he is pausing development for, but it is only temporary. The pause in development comes as a result of the Stardew Valley 1.6 update, which Barone announced during the summer of last year . While we were told the grand 1.5 update for Stardew Valley would be the last big content update of its kind back in 2021, Barone clearly can’t stay away, and neither can fans. The 1.6 update will add new content to the game, but not at all on the same scale that the 1.5 update did. The new update will also feature more tools and resources for modders, and while Barone works to get it live, he’s had to halt his work on Haunted Chocolatier in the meantime. SEGA to acquire Angry Birds developer, Rovio, for $775 million

Image
SEGA has announced its plans to acquire the mobile developer, Rovio, in a whopping $775 million deal. That’s €706 million, or £625 million, over in Europe. Rovio is best known for its endeavours with the mobile game that took the world by storm back in the early 2010s: Angry Birds. SEGA’s acquisition of the developer comes from its aims to strengthen its position in the mobile gaming market, which SEGA believes is projected to account for 56% of the global gaming market overall by 2026. SEGA has stated that it plans to take in Rovio’s live-operated mobile game development capabilities and expertise in mobile game operation, to accelerate the development of mobile compatible and multi-platform-supported versions of SEGA’s existing game IPs. Super Mario Bros. Movie dethrones Warcraft as most successful video game adaptation

Image
Move over Warcraft, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has become the biggest video game adaptation ever. After a strong opening weekend, that Italian plumber has proven he's capable of making a lot of money, as Variety has reported that The Super Mario Bros. Movie has passed $500 million globally, cementing it as the number one video game adaptation of all time. At the time of writing, the Mario movie has specifically taken in $531,821,843 globally, with more than half of that coming from the US alone. Not to mention the fact that the film beat Frozen 2 in debut ticket sales . All in all, the figures are likely making one Shigeru Miyamoto quite happy. It's also managed to do all of this in just two weeks, having released at the beginning of the month (April 5), so there's still time for it to take in even more. The previous record holder for highest worldwide gross was Warcraft, the adaptation of Blizzard's long running series, but with Mario's success that puts Warcr...

Dark and Darker is still off Steam, so its devs are encouraging players to torrent it

Image
Following Dark and Darker's delisting from Steam, developer Ironmace Games is now encouraging players to torrent the game. The whole situation with Dark and Darker has been a bit of a wild one. Things started out exceptionally well with its third playtest back in February, but soon after that Ironmac Games was raided by police due to accusations of asset theft from video game publisher Nexon. In turn, Dark and Darker was pulled from Steam due to a cease and desist from Nexon. Now, in the latest development of this bumpy ride, Ironmace Games is fully encouraging its players to just torrent the game so they can keep playing it. Ironmace Games sent a message to all users in Dark and Darker's official Discord sharing the torrent, in quite a radical move for such a situation. "Thank you for your patience. We apologise for the radio silence," the message reads. "Unfortunately, due to the complexities of our situation, especially across international lines, it i...

Sega could be acquiring Angry Birds developer Rovio for $1 billion

Image
Sega might be acquiring Angry Birds developer Rovio for a surprisingly large sum of $1 billion, closing the deal as early as next week. This comes from a report from The Wall Street Journal , who has spoken to people familiar with the situation. The deal is apparently expected to wrap up sometime next week, assuming discussions don't fall through or anything else gets in the way. An official comment on the potential deal hasn't been provided by Sega or Rovio. Earlier this year Israeli digital entertainment company Playtika was gearing up to acquire Rovio for a smaller sum of almost $800 million, but talks ended in March . Rovio is obviously best known for the Angry Bird series, the first game of which was released in 2009. It was incredibly successful right from the get go, spawning numerous sequels, spinoffs, merchandise, and a couple of movie adaptations. But the series' popularity has waned over the years, particularly with the change in mobile gaming habits moving fr...

What are you playing this weekend?

Image
I don't know what the weather is like where you live, but it is a gorgeous 78 degrees here. Many folks are out and about walking thier dogs, playing basketball, jogging, doing yard work, all sorts of things you do outdoors. Not this gal: she has bronchitis; therefore, she plans to stay in bed and alternate between sleeping and watching Netflix. If she feels up to it, she might play some more Skyrim on Xbox, but probably not. Guess who else is staying inside to play games this weekend? Connor, James, and Kelsey. Although I doubt it's because they are feeling like bunk. They just want to play games. Read more from VG247 Latest Articles Feed https://ift.tt/bhwDO0k via IFTTT

Warframe's next major update The Duviri Paradox is launching April 26

Image
Warframe is getting another major update this month, as the Duviri Paradox is launching on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch on April 26. The update, which is a massive open world experience that adds a new rogue-like style quest, had previously been delayed for mysterious reasons. Soon, those who had been eager to jump in earlier in the year will be able to experience new story developments, gameplay mechanics, and all manner of unlockable stuff. The Duviri Paradox is seemingly split between two paths: one where you play as your original character or one that sees you playing as The Drifter as they both experience different routes through the new content. You'll be able to play both regardless of your initial choice, but it certainly does point towards some interesting story developments with this update. As a rule of thumb, if The Drifter is involved, things are bound to get interesting. Read more from VG247 Latest Articles Feed https://ift.tt/w3vFLQC via IFTTT

Tears of the Kingdom’s Ganondorf will be voiced by Critical Role's Matthew Mercer

Image
After finally getting approval from Nintendo, Matthew Mercer took to Twitter last night to reveal that he’ll be the voice of Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom . If I say so myself, I think Nintendo has found one of the best people for the job. After announcing the news, Mercer shared that it is “an immense honor that I have thrown myself into doing justice.” In a follow-up string of Tweets, Mercer also detailed that, “I have been an immense Legend of Zelda fan since I was a child, and Ganondorf has been one of my favorite antagonists… to the point where I portrayed this green-skinned menace for my web series over a decade ago!” Read more from VG247 Latest Articles Feed https://ift.tt/4st87Ru via IFTTT

Minecraft Legends could be you and your kids’ next Game Pass favourite

Image
What do you think of when you think of the word ‘ Minecraft ’? If you’re anything like me – and the now-numerous generations that have been raised by the game – you’ll think of creativity, exploration, the freedom to do things your own way. The original game (now a Microsoft property) took the reins off, allowed you to explore the geometric sandbox at your leisure, and let you revel in the world in your own time. Set your own goals, do your own thing. Have fun, without needing to constantly check compass points or review your objectives. It’s strange, then, to see the latest spin-off in the Minecraft IP approach a genre that is so strict and keeps you on the path so much that it’s literally built around lanes. We’re talking MOBA – multiplayer online battle arena. That word soup sounds like it doesn’t mean much, but it’s spawned some of the most popular games of all time; League of Legends , DOTA 2 , Smite , and so on. It’s a famously difficult genre to penetrate and takes a lot of ti...

The Last of Us Part 1's latest patch on PC should stop drenching everyone

Image
The latest update for The Last of Us Part 1 on PC arrived over the long weekend, and with it everyone should stop randomly getting drenched. With buggy releases, typically bugs fall into two categories: funny and unfunny. Most of the issues with The Last of Us remake's PC port fell into the former, but it's hard to deny that characters randomly being completely covered in water in cutscenes isn't funny. Too bad for those that did find it funny though, as a new patch dropped at the start of the long weekend which should now be fixed. This would specifically happen during a scene in the quarantine zone, but according to the patch notes , this "issue where the player and buddy characters may suddenly appear wet during gameplay," has been fixed. Perhaps more importantly, one of the patch notes reads "updated texture streaming to reduce CPU usage," which should help with performance when loading new areas. A few crashes, such as the most annoying one that...

Dead by Daylight healing time brought back to normal after player feedback

Image
After some feedback from Dead by Daylight players over a change that meant it took longer to heal, Behaviour Interactive has changed it back to the original length. Before anything heads out on to the main Dead by Daylight servers, Behaviour Interactive typically tests things on the Public Test Build (PTB). The Tools of Torment Mid-Chapter recently arrived on the PTB, and it introduced a change that increased the base healing time from 16 seconds to 24 seconds, which quickly proved to be controversial. In a blog post , Behaviour noted that it knows changing something like this is "a very touchy subject, so we kept an extra close eye on this change to see how it would play out." "After reviewing player feedback, we found that many of you agreed that the speed which you heal others was already in a good spot prior to the update," Behaviour continued. "This change also had knock-on effects elsewhere in the game, making effects like Mangled and Hemorrhage stron...
