Developer Heart Machine and publisher Gearbox have announced Hyper Light Breaker, a follow-up to 2016's Hyper Light Drifter. This game takes place in the Overgrowth, a new place in the Hyper Light universe filled with big biomes and monsters. Hyper Light Breaker is a rouge-lite and the player's goal is to overthrow the Abyss King. Where Hyper Light Drifter was a 2D isometric game, Breaker is fully 3D, and players can wall-dash, hoverboard, and glide across ever-changing environments. Hyper Light Breaker will also feature co-op as well. The game enters Early Access on Steam sometime in Spring 2023, but no other platforms have been announced yet. Three more classic Nintendo games are now available for Nintendo Switch Online members, and these include SNES and NES titles released as far back as 1985. The first is Dig Dug II, a NES puzzle arcade game originally released in 1985 from developer Namco. In what we have been assured is not an early April Fools joke Dyson has revealed its first ever wearable device: a set of air-purifying headphones. The Dyson Zone is a headset that distils the company's existing air purification tech into a personal visor-like device, complete with noise-cancelling headphones. While Covid is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to air filtration in 2022, the Dyson Zone was originally concepted far before the virus was a concern, as a response to rising levels of pollution in major cities. The device's announcement page shows the various stages of the Zone's development, from a snorkel-like filtration device to the current design with a visor delivering a flow of filtered air to the nose and mouth. A federal court on Tuesday announced that it would approve Activision Blizzard's proposed settlement with the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), which is the next step toward creating an $18 million fund to compensate and make amends to workers affected by gender discrimination and harassments claims within the company. Under the terms of the agreement, Activision will create an $18 million fund for eligible claimants and take steps to enhance its "policies, practices, and training" to help prevent harassment and discrimination in the future. I’ve been playing Triangle Strategy forever now. Since way before the game even released, in fact – Nintendo is one of those publishers that is usually really good at giving us a good amount of time to review a game. Beenox, an Activision-owned studio that supports the mammoth Call of Duty franchise, has today announced that it will be expanding into a new location in Montreal, in addition to its headquarters in Quebec City. The second office will allow Beenox to increase its staff by over 20%, the studio said in a press release, continuing an expansion that has already seen it hire over 150 developers in the last year. As far as what the new studio will be focusing on, the press release states that the new studio will be able to "support the growth of the [Call of Duty] franchise and additional ambitious projects." Many of the jobs currently listed for the new studio have a mobile focus, suggesting the Montreal studio will have a lot to contribute to the upcoming Call Of Duty: Warzone mobile port, which was confirmed earlier in March. The Persona 5: Investigation Team character replacement mod is in progress now, building a whole new cast to play through the game's story with. Bethesda has enlisted the help of an additional studio, Double Eleven, to work on Fallout 76 . Double Eleven has worked with other big developers such as Mojang for Minecraft Dungeons and Facepunch Studios for Rust . Sony will not release first-party games into its new version of PlayStation Plus in a similar way to how Microsoft launches all first-party games on Xbox Game Pass. PlayStation boss Jim Ryan explained to GI.biz that the "virtuous cycle" of investment that leads to commercial payoff would be significantly derailed if Sony were to take that approach. The corollary would be that quality goes down, Ryan said. Following a series of leaks and rumors , PlayStation has officially unveiled the next generation of PlayStation Plus. As expected, the relaunch of the PlayStation subscription service will combine the perks of PS Plus and PlayStation Now. When the subscription launches in June, it will be available as three separate tiers: PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium. The Premium subscription will feature up to 700-plus games. The standard PS Plus subscription will be rebranded to PlayStation Plus Essential . Several Destiny 2 YouTubers-- and Bungie itself --were hit with copyright takedown notices earlier this month, targeting videos that analyzed and discussed the game. Bungie explained that fake Google accounts impersonating it were responsible, with those bad actors abusing YouTube's copyright takedown system to target high-profile creators and the studio. Not content with just putting a stop to the takedown spree , Bungie is now going after the alleged culprits and plans to sue them. It's official; Sony has revealed PS Plus Essentials, PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium , a three-tier subscription service that is the company's answer to Xbox Game Pass . The base level of the service, PS Plus Essentials , will cost $9.99/€8.99/£6.99 a month (or $24.99/€24.99/£19.99 per three months, or $59.99/€59.99/£49.99 per year) and is effectively the same as PS Plus. The next band up – PS Plus Extra – includes all the benefits you get with PlayStation Plus, as well as a library of 400 PS4 and PS5 games that can be downloaded to your consoles. Fortnite has held Star Wars crossover events before, and it looks like this partnership is set to continue by bringing back the franchise's iconic melee weapon. A leak has revealed that lightsabers might be coming back to Fortnite in a future update. A Fortnite dataminer has apparently discovered that Chapter 3 Season 2 will add four different lightsabers including Kylo Ren's crossguard, Luke's green lightsaber, Rey's blue energy sword, and Mace Windu's purple blade. Halo, the television adaptation of the popular Microsoft franchise, has set a record for Paramount+ by becoming the most-watched premiere for the streaming service. The show's premiere knocked 1883 out of the top slot, which is no large feat considering the series is a prequel for the rather popular show Yellowstone. Both shows were heavily marketed, and while 1883 had an association with Yellowstone going for it, the Halo campaign served a dual target for both a game fan base that has grown for more than 20 and those who like sci-fi shows. Add in the fact Paramount worked with networks MTV, CBS, Comedy Central, BET, and Paramount Network to help attract the target audiences and it didn't hurt that the advertising campaign kicked off with a Halo trailer dropping during the AFC Championship game where 48 million people saw the trailer that day. Pre-production has reportedly begun on the next Battlefield game, and will see the series revert to its familiar roots after changes introduced in Battlefield 2042 weren't well-received. According to a report on XFire --who previously suggested a free-to-play mode may be in development--developer DICE has learned "valuable lessons" from Battlefield 2042 and will no longer be using that game as the new foundation for the long-running FPS franchise. One former developer who recently departed from DICE after the launch of Battlefield 2042 had suggested that the next Battlefield was at one point being designed to be even more of a "hero shooter" style of game. Smilegate's popular MMO Lost Ark is doing big numbers on PC, but could it ever come to console? Amazon Games boss Soomin Park said in new interview with VG247 that nothing is off the table. If fans make a clamor for Lost Ark on console, then Amazon Games and Smilegate would consider that feedback and factor it into their plans. That said, there are no guarantees. "If Lost Ark on consoles is something that fans really want, then I think it's something both parties would consider!" Park said. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is – to both its benefit and to its detriment – a Borderlands game in shiny new packaging. The concept was promising, but given all that Gearbox had to work with, it didn’t really deliver. I have to admit that in the lead up to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, I didn’t actually feel that hyped. The introduction of dragons and magic caught my interest, for sure, but I was still riding the Elden Ring high of the past month. Frankly, a part of me (ashamedly) felt like I’d had so much fun becoming Elden Lord, that no game would hit the same ever again. Well, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands did snap me out of that, thankfully. It reminded me of just how incredibly different two games can be while sharing the same elements at their core: kill enemies, collect loot, kill bigger enemies, be a hero, and so forth. The Wolf Among Us is coming back, but the long-awaited sequel apparently won't lean too heavily on the original 2013 episodic adventure. According to an interview with Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie in Edge magazine, as picked up by IGN , newcomers to the series will be able to play the upcoming sequel without catching up on the original. AMD has shown off the next generation of its FidelityFX Super Resolution upscaling technology this week at GDC, announcing that the 2.0 upgrade will be available on a broad range of hardware, including Xbox consoles and Nvidia GPUs. AMD's FSR launched last June , offering similar performance upgrades to Nvidia's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) tech, but without the requirement for dedicated machine learning hardware. The next generation of FSR is due to arrive in Q2 2022, bringing with it further performance upgrades and new supported devices, including Xbox consoles. As part of its GDC keynote, AMD released a list of hardware that would work with FSD 2.0, including both AMD and Nvidia graphics cards. Today, Sony pushed out a new update for PS4 and PS5 consoles. For the most part, these updates are business as ususal and what you'd expect from system updates on PlayStation hardware (headline changes include stability updates and the ability to create or join open or closed parties, UI updates for Trophy and Game Base elements, and a new voice command update). The next update to featured experiences in Battlefield 2042 's Portal will shake up how the featured modes work, with a change to both the number of featured experiences and how often they refresh. As announced on the Battlefield Direct Communication Twitter, the number of experiences featured at once will be reduced from five to two, but the modes will now refresh twice a week instead of once. Microsoft has announced Minecraft Preview, a new standalone app that's designed to replace the Bedrock Beta program for testing the game's beta builds. Minecraft Preview will intially be rolling out on iOS, Xbox, and Windows 10 and 11, and will be included along with the base game for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The Microsoft blog about Minecraft Preview describes the new app as an evolution of the Bedrock Beta program, and it sounds like it's set to make the beta experience a lot better for participating players. As a seperate app, players who want to check out Minecraft beta builds no longer have to choose between the beta and the released branch of the game, and can play both versions concurrently without having to switch back and forth. When it comes to the SPAS-12 shotgun in Battlefield 2042 , overpowered is an understatement. In a new update, the high-powered shotgun has become well and truly broken, giving players the ability to one-hit-kills enemies from incredible distances, as demonstrated in a video by YouTuber JackFrags . While the bugged gun isn't playable in Battlefield 2042 itself, it has appeared in a featured BF3 game mode through Battlefield Portal. In the main game, players are unable to use frag rounds with the SPAS-12, but the deadly combination is still allowed in the BF3 Portal TDM mode. Making the balance issue even worse is the fact that this shotgun seems to have incredible range, with JackFrags regularly getting one hit kills from a distance--at one point even out-sniping an actual sniper.
